Warehouse racking, boltless shelving, garage storage and display racks are a fast-growing export category from Vietnam. US buyers — distributors, e-commerce sellers and warehouse operators — increasingly ask for DDP pricing. Steel products, however, carry special duty and logistics considerations.
What makes steel racks different
- Heavy and dense: containers hit the weight limit before they are full.
- Steel tariffs: Section 232 measures cover steel and many steel derivative products — see Section 232 for steel products.
- Trade remedy risk: some shelving and steel products are subject to AD/CVD investigations or orders.
- Origin documentation: US Customs may require information on where the steel was melted and poured — see origin rules.
The DDP process for racks and shelving
- Confirm HTS codes and whether products fall within steel derivative lists.
- Collect mill certificates showing steel origin.
- Plan container weight (usually 20' containers for heavy racking) — see loading heavy steel.
- Export clearance, ISF filing and booking.
- US entry with steel origin data, duty payment, delivery to warehouse.
Delivery in the US
Most racking is delivered to distribution centres with loading docks. For e-commerce shelving sold to consumers, cartons go to 3PL or Amazon FBA warehouses and must meet weight-per-carton limits for parcel delivery.
Trade measures on steel change often. Treat the rules described here as general guidance and confirm current rates, product lists and filing requirements for your HTS codes before each shipment.
We ship steel racks and shelving DDP from Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An and Hai Phong to all US states. Request a quote or see USA & Canada shipping.
