Cambodia makes a large share of the bags, apparel, footwear and travel goods sold on Amazon US. Many of those factories sit in special economic zones near the Vietnamese border — close to some of the busiest container ports in Asia.
Two routes to the US
| Route | How it works | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Via Vietnam (Cai Mep / Cat Lai) | Truck from the factory through Bavet – Moc Bai to a Vietnamese port; load on direct US services | Most US-bound cargo; frequent sailings; mixed loads with Vietnamese goods |
| Via Sihanoukville | Load at Sihanoukville port, usually with transhipment at a regional hub | Factories in the south-west; when a suitable service is available |
Details of the cross-border leg: Bavet SEZ factories exporting via Vietnamese ports and Cambodia → Vietnam trucking.
Keep the origin Cambodian — on paper
- Goods made in Cambodia keep Cambodian origin when they only pass through Vietnam. The paperwork must show that: Cambodian export declaration, transit documents and a bill of lading that matches.
- Do not repack or relabel Cambodian goods as Vietnamese, or mix them unlabelled with Vietnamese cartons. US duties depend on origin, and CBP investigates transshipment — see origin and marking.
- Unit labels and retail packaging should say “Made in Cambodia”.
Amazon prep before the truck leaves
Since Amazon ended US prep services in 2026, labelling must be done in Cambodia — FNSKU units, box labels and pallet labels — see FBA prep at the factory. Doing it before the border crossing also means cartons are not opened again in Vietnam.
DDP to the fulfilment centre
- Cambodian export clearance at the factory or SEZ.
- Cross-border trucking and loading at the Vietnamese port (or Sihanoukville).
- US customs entry with an importer of record, duties for Cambodian origin paid — see US tariffs in 2026.
- Delivery to FBA, AWD or a 3PL by appointment — see inbound placement and appointments.
